At 71 degrees north, on a peninsula facing the mighty Varanger fjord, you will find Ekker Island and our extraordinary arctic lodge. A visit here is an Arctic safari where you can expect to see eagles, whales, reindeers, seals and rare Arctic birds and bird colonies at our neighbouring bird cliffs. If you visit during winter it’s one of the best places on earth to experience the Aurora Borealis.
Yoga Retreat at Ekker Island in September
We’re hosting a yoga retreat, with a little something extra, at Ekker Island from September 17–21, 2025. This long weekend is designed to help you reconnect with yourself and nature, surrounded by the serene Arctic landscape. The sessions are suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.
Please note: all yoga sessions will be conducted in Norwegian.

Varanger is a birdwatcher’s paradise, featuring unique Arctic birdlife that attracts enthusiasts worldwide. Guests can spot remarkable birds, like gyrfalcons and sea eagles, from the comfort of their Bird View Cabins, the bird cliff nearby and other parts of Varanger.
